About the Library > King Reading Room
Project History
It has been more than four years since Gov. King decided to donate his personal papers to the Law School to establish an archive for the use of researchers interested in public policy and New Mexico governmental issues and history. Many individuals subsequently devoted much time and energy to planning and fundraising activities associated with the project. The work of the members of the “King Committee,” primarily former cabinet members from King Administrations, was especially invaluable in initiating and fundraising for this project. These efforts culminated during the 2005 New Mexico Legislative Session, with a special appropriation that made it possible to begin indexing and conserving of the documents and to create the Reading Room at the School of Law.
