Honoring the Legacy of Alice King
The University of New Mexico School of Law Library serves as the repository of the personal papers of Governor Bruce King and his wife, First Lady, Alice King. The Law Library is proud to offer programming to highlight the King Archives. Programming questions may be directed to the Law Library Archivist, David Myers, who has planned two major programs to honor the contributions of Gov. and Mrs. King. Mr. Myers can be reached at: 505-277-6796, or myers@law.unm.edu.
- A May 21, 2009 program will honor the accomplishments of Alice King. It is fully described at: http://lawschool.unm.edu/news/aliceking.php
- On October 15 and 16, 2009, the Law Library will present a major program to honor the accomplishments of Governor Bruce King. The October program will include a panel discussion of King era political and policy leaders and a major analytical address by a leading scholar on New Mexico government.
Governor King was a major political leader and activist for five decades. His collections and those of his wife comprise a major component of the Law Library’s archival holdings. Including more than one million items and 2,000 photographs, the King collection is one of the most important for understanding modern New Mexico public policy and political history.
