Online Resources For Attorneys

Law Library Licensed Databases

The Law Library licenses legal research databases such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Loislaw, and Shepard's specifically for use by library patrons who are not affiliated with the Law School. Also, since it is not always convenient to visit the Library in Albuquerque, the Law Library licenses Loislaw for the four UNM branch campus libraries (Gallup, Los Alamos, Taos, and Valencia). This means that attorneys and pro se patrons can use Loislaw for free at any of the branch locations.

Pay-As-You-Go Options

The librarians are happy to show attorneys how to use the Library's online resources or to offer advice concerning the licensing of online legal resources, especially for solo practitioners and small firms. For example, did you know that you can access Lexis and Westlaw with a credit card account, and simply pay for access when you need it, rather than entering into an expensive, long-term subscription? For more information on pay-as-you-go options, see the Law Library’s Free Legal Resources page.

Low-Cost Options

There are a few low-cost databases such as New Mexico OneSource, Casemaker, Loislaw, and VersusLaw that can make online access more affordable. Please contact the librarians by phone (277-0935) or through email if you have any questions.
