Library Access During the Summer & After Graduation
During the Summer
Lexis Nexis automatically provides student access during the summer, for academic work as well as employment (either paid or unpaid).
Westlaw automatically provides student access during the summer for academic work as well as employment in the non-profit sector or as part of an externship course.
After Graduation
Bar exam preparation materials, including Grade 1 through 6 answers for several years of NM UBE Bar exams, are on course reserve at the Library front desk.
- Legal Analysis for the UBE (Uniform Bar Exam) (most current)
- Bar Preparation Materials (older, but contain a lot of practice opportunities for Bar prep).
Check out privileges extend for three months following graduation, for the standard two-hour time frame.
Online study aids, including the Aspen Learning Library Study Aids and West Academic Study Aids also include multiple resources to assist with preparing for the Bar exam.
To use all of their features (including note-taking, apps for offline reading, and audio books) and to ensure uninterrupted access, be sure to set up your personal accounts for these two online study aids platforms.
Please note: West Study Aids is a DIFFERENT SYSTEM than West Precision, TWEN, etc. and requires its own set-up, username, and password.
The easiest method for account set-up is to log on to a hardwired Law School desktop computer such as those upstairs in the Hart Wing and in the Law Library computer lab then use the links from the Law Library’s Law Students web page. After you create your personal accounts, you can log in directly to the study-aids platforms from home, etc., and while connected to LoboWifi.
Lexis Nexis automatically provides access for six months following graduation. This access does not include Lexis Classroom.
Westlaw provides access for six months after graduation, but you will need to register first. When logging on at www.lawschool.westlaw.com, a pop-up will appear advertising West’s Grad Elite, click through the pop-up and follow the prompts for registration details.
Make sure your graduation date is correct in Westlaw, this information will impact your continuing ability to use their system. If you need to update your Westlaw graduation date, contact Westlaw at 1-800-850-9378 or submit a request to the Law Library’s Student Request Portal and provide your correct graduation month and year. Graduates can check their Grad Elite status here, or https://lawschool.thomsonreuters.com/grad-elite-status/.
